Itinerary

Your journey begins in Chennai, a historic gateway to South India known for its beaches, temples, museums and vibrant culture. After arrival, you are greeted by your private driver and transferred to your hotel. The remaining time can be spent relaxing or taking a short orientation drive through the city’s lively districts.

Later in the day, visit prominent landmarks such as Marina Beach, Kapaleeshwarar Temple and San Thome Basilica. These sites highlight the city’s unique blend of Dravidian architecture and colonial influences, offering a wonderful introduction to the cultural richness of Tamil Nadu.

Begin the morning with a drive toward Kanchipuram, renowned as the “City of Thousand Temples.” Here, you explore ancient masterpieces like Ekambareswarar Temple and Kailasanathar Temple, both known for intricate carvings and deep mythological significance. This sacred city also offers insight into the legacy of Kanchipuram silk weaving.

Continue your journey to Mahabalipuram, a coastal UNESCO World Heritage town. Visit the Shore Temple, Pancha Rathas, and Arjuna’s Penance, where you witness exceptional stone craftsmanship dating back to the 7th–8th century. Evening at leisure by the beach.

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive along the East Coast Road toward Pondicherry, a charming destination known for its French-style neighbourhoods. Upon arrival, check in and relax before taking a walking tour through the French Quarter, where tree-lined avenues, pastel-coloured buildings and seaside promenades create a peaceful ambience.

In the afternoon, visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, one of the town’s most respected spiritual centres. Take time to enjoy cafés, boutiques and quiet streets that bring together European elegance and Tamil heritage in a beautiful harmony.

Start the day with a visit to Auroville, an international community dedicated to human unity and sustainable living. Here, you witness the Matrimandir—a remarkable golden sphere that stands at the heart of this unique township. Auroville offers insight into alternative living, artistic creativity and conscious lifestyles.

Return to Pondicherry to spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring local attractions such as Bharathi Park, the Promenade Beach or the many boutique stores. You may also enjoy traditional South Indian meals and French-influenced cuisine available throughout the town.

This morning, drive back to Chennai enjoying coastal views along the route. On arrival, proceed for any remaining sightseeing, shopping or personal activities. Suggested places include Government Museum or the local markets for handicrafts and textiles.

The evening is free for rest or optional activities. Chennai’s cultural atmosphere, culinary richness and temple architecture offer several opportunities for engaging experiences before your journey concludes.

After breakfast, transfer to Chennai Airport for your onward flight. Your 6-day South India heritage tour concludes with memorable cultural experiences, scenic drives and enriching encounters with the region’s ancient traditions.

Leave with cherished memories of Tamil Nadu’s sacred cities, historic coastal sites and the warm hospitality of South India.
